This district is growing. The school is at capacity. We all have children in this school. Real estate prices are closely linked to school district quality. $91 per year is a small price to pay to give our children quality facilities, and to enhance our property values. This referendum is a no-brainer...
We should be looking at lowering administrative costs not raising our taxes. In a one school district we have: a superintendent, an assistant superintendent, two building principals and one assistant principal. This district is top heavy and mis-guided. I feel we will in time need a new Jr. High, but not right now. If the high schools in this district can run on a 30-1 ratio, 24-1 isn't all that bad for the present until the actual enrollment does increase. VOTE NO!!
FACT: Over 80% of a residential property tax bill funds education in virtually every community in Illinois.
FACT: If you placed your house in any bedroom community in northern Illinois your taxes would be similar or higher.
FACT: You live in a desirable area with a high quality of life and little industrial or commercial development.
FACT: You live in an expensive house.
FACT: When you live in an expensive house, in a desirable area, with a high quality of life and little industrial or commercial development, you pay higher residential property taxes.
FACT: Your house didn’t sell because your asking price was too high.
FACT: Your asking price was too high because you are greedy.
FACT: You are unwilling to pay your fair share of the costs associated with educating the children of this community because you are greedy.
FACT: If you vote “Yes” a new school may be built.
FACT: If a new school is built the value of your expensive house will increase.
FACT: Greedy people are happy when their property values increase.
FACT: You should vote “Yes” because you want to be happy.
Please drive your Hummer carefully during your enthusiastic rush to the polls…we wouldn’t want you hitting any of those little tax liabilities most of us call children.
This may be the most absurd blog entry of all time. Besides being an incoherent rambling of unrelated thoughts… it has the distinct smell of ENVY, which for the uneducated is one of the seven deadly sins. This illness can drive a person mad, causing them to irrationally justify their vengeful actions as retaliation…for the things they couldn’t have. In the chaos, they aimlessly blame everyone for the wrongs in society and their revolt is typically aimed at stealing what is unrightfully theirs. In this case, it’s our tax dollars. Remember… over 77% of our tax dollars are already supporting this cause and you can’t even justify the results of these investments. Why should you think the community would want to continue this charade? Give it up and VOTE NO! You will thank us later.
GREED is also one of the seven deadly sins... an illness that drives the afflicted to internalize the delusion that others aspire to their desire for material wealth. I hope the moths in your wallet don't consume your wool suit.
This blog was established to allow the community to participate in the dialog surrounding District 46's attempt to pass a $25M referendum. We welcome all sides to participate in the discussion. (Note: this attempt is $7M more than the failed referendum of $18M six months ago)

FACT: My last property tax bill had $10,832 going towards this school. That was 83% of the tax bill.
You think that's a small price?!
Last year, we tried selling our house. The number one buyer complaint?...the property taxes were way too high for the neighborhood.
A small price? Get real.
You're right, this referendum is a no brainer. VOTE NO!
